Pheromone Funnel Trap About

Pheromone Funnel Trap is an effective and widely used pest monitoring and mass trapping device designed to control major agricultural insect pests using species-specific pheromone lures. It works by attracting male insects into the trap using synthetic pheromones that mimic the natural scent of female pests, guiding them into a funnel structure from which they cannot escape.

This trap is an important component of Integrated Pest Management (IPM) programs and is used across a variety of crops including cotton, vegetables, fruits, and plantation crops. It helps farmers detect pest activity early and take timely action, reducing crop damage and improving yield quality without heavy reliance on chemical pesticides.

Key Features:

Uses species-specific pheromone lures for targeted pest attraction
Funnel-shaped design ensures efficient insect entry and capture
Compatible with multiple crop-specific pheromone lures
Durable and weather-resistant for long field usage
Easy to assemble, install, and maintain in field conditions
Suitable for large-scale agricultural applications

Benefits:

Enables early detection and continuous monitoring of pest populations
Reduces pest breeding by trapping male insects effectively
Minimizes crop damage and improves overall yield quality
Supports eco-friendly and sustainable Integrated Pest Management (IPM)
Reduces dependency on chemical pesticides and spray frequency
Cost-effective solution for long-term pest control
Enhances farm productivity by protecting crops during critical growth stages

Durable and Reusable Construction

Made from UV-stabilized plastic, the funnel trap is built to withstand harsh outdoor conditions for 2-3 seasons with proper care. It can be easily cleaned and reused with replacement pheromone lures, providing a sustainable and cost-effective solution for pest management.

Versatile Compatibility and Application

This funnel trap is compatible with a range of specific pheromone lures tailored to target different pest species. It is ideal for commercial agriculture, particularly for monitoring and mass trapping lepidopteran moths in open fields, orchards, and protected environments like greenhouses.

Easy Installation and Maintenance

FAQ's of Pheromone Funnel Trap:

Q: How do I install the Pheromone Funnel Trap in my field or greenhouse?

A: To install, simply assemble the trap as per the instructions, attach the supplied hanger or tie, and suspend the trap at the recommended height in your crop field, orchard, or inside a greenhouse. Position traps according to the area and pest guidelines for optimal monitoring or mass trapping efficiency.

Q: What types of pests can this pheromone funnel trap target?

A: This trap is specifically designed for monitoring and trapping lepidopteran pests such as Helicoverpa armigera and Spodoptera litura. By using compatible pheromone lures, it can also target a range of other moth pests relevant to your crops.

Q: When is the best time to set up the funnel traps during the cropping season?

A: It is advisable to install the funnel traps at the beginning of the cropping season, before the expected arrival of target pests. Early installation allows for timely monitoring and mass trapping, reducing pest populations effectively as the season progresses.

Q: Where should these traps be placed for maximum effectiveness?

A: Place traps evenly across the field, orchard, or greenhouse, avoiding blockage by foliage. Follow specific crop and area guidelines for spacing. In commercial setups, one trap per specified area is generally recommended for monitoring and control.

Q: What is the process for maintaining and reusing the trap?

A: After each trapping cycle, disassemble the funnel trap, clean all components with water and mild soap, and replace the pheromone lure as needed. Let the parts air-dry before reassembling and redeploying the trap. Proper maintenance helps extend the trap's life span up to 2-3 seasons.

Q: What are the benefits of using this pheromone funnel trap in agriculture?

A: The trap provides eco-friendly, targeted pest control without chemical residues, supporting integrated pest management. Its reusable design makes it cost-effective over multiple seasons, and it enables early detection and mass trapping of harmful moth pests, reducing crop damage and pesticide use.
